Cristi Semmler grew up in the Black Hills of South Dakota and graduated from Custer High School. Ranching was a big part of her upbringing. Working cattle, rodeo and horse-back riding took up a good share of her high school days. From an early age, she knew any career she had, would involve animals. She attended South Dakota State University, being involved heavily in equine activities, including the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association(IHSA), SDSU Horse Club, and completing a certificate in equine sports massage therapy. After several years, she decided to pursue a degree specifically in horses and transfered to Colorado State University. There, she completed a Bachelors in Equine Science, the Spring of 2002. In order to make herself more marketable in the horse industry, she decided to increase her skills in veterinary technology. She graduated with honors, from Ridgwater College in Minnesota, the Spring of 2004, with an Associates of Applied Science. After graduation, she moved back to Colorado. She became involved with emergency medicine and has been working nights for the past 4 1/2 years. The last 3 years have been in Rapid City, South Dakota. (Its not what she thought she'd be doing - but she loves it!) Photography has always been a passion and a hobby, but in the past 2 years, people have been asking her to take portraits for them. Due to her love of animals, she knew animal photography would be right up her alley. With her background in veterinary technology, and hands-on experience handling animals - she has a few tricks up her sleeve, to get a great shot. |
